Why am I going on a mission?
Well it all started right here:
As soon as I heard this, without hesitating, I called my mom and announced to her that I was going to
serve a mission. I just knew. I knew more
than anything I have ever known that I needed to go and
I needed to go
now. I knew that this has always been in the works for me; that through
experiences
in my life, I was being prepared for this. And also that
others were being prepared to receive me,
no matter where that was going
to be. Let's fast forward a month:
This
was literally the most surreal experience of my life. (I'm just going to
blame how weird I was
on the excitement.) Since receiving my mission call, I have been so overwhelmed with excitement and
love for the people of Brazil. I am going on a mission to share with my brothers and sisters in São Paulo
what gives me real peace, happiness, direction, and purpose in my life and to invite them to feel this joy
too by coming unto our Savior, Jesus Christ.

What does a missionary do all day?
Missionaries all over the world, with small exceptions for cultural differences, follow this schedule:
6:30AM is when the day starts. The first hour and a half is time to exercise and get ready for the day.
8 - Personal study. Since we spend all day sharing
with people what we know about Christ and his
Gospel, it's super important that we get prepared by studying the scriptures.
9 - Companionship study. This is a
time to share with our companions the things we have learned on
our own,
continue to study together, practice teaching, and go over our game plan for the day.
10 - Since the people we are serving only speak Portuguese, we take the next hour to have language
study.
11 - We head out and begin our missionary work.
Lunch
is the big meal of the day for Brazilians, so often we eat at a
member's home for this meal. We
also take an hour to eat dinner, but
spend
all other hours of the day teaching and seeking opportunities
to serve.
9PM
- We come back home and have an hour and a half to plan for the next
day, write in our journals,
etc. and get ready for bed at 10:30.
Once a week, we have a Preparation Day, or P. Day, where we do grocery shopping, laundry, write
letters, and all of that fun stuff.
